Tango Restaurant & Bar - New date / 2935 Main Street, Glastonbury CT 06033
Saturday, March 13th / 5:30 Cocktails (optional) 6:30 Dinner
COST: $69

Tango Restaurant and Bar describes themselves as serving “Italian cuisine with an Argentinian Flair”. The blend of styles is natural since many Italians migrated to Argentina in the late 1800’s. The menu was diverse and the food was delicious. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, they have live music beginning at 8PM.

Some of you may know their location as the place where the Glas Restaurant used to be. The interior has been redecorated with deep reds and rich mahogany.

We visited for dinner on a Saturday a few weeks ago. We were glad we had made reservations because the restaurant was busy. I think they may have had a difficult beginning when they first opened, but they must have worked out their kinks because they were very busy with people waiting at the bar, and we thought the food/service/atmosphere was excellent.

Manchester is an easy and scenic three-and-a-half hour drive from White Plains NY, just 2 hours from Boston. It's a great walking/browsing town. You can spend hours perusing its unique shops (including an old fashioned, independent bookstore---take that, Borders!); outlet stores; and galleries/shops featuring local and regional artists--all within walking distance (or, if you prefer, free hotel shuttle). The nearby area has many other attractions including: Hildene (the home of Robert Todd Lincoln) and the Robert Frost stone house among others. And, of course, one can do "nothing" at all and just relax!

Since "fine dining" is one of our favorite things to do, luckily for us 'gourmets' we have many outstanding options. We will wine and dine at three of the area's best restaurants/inns, acclaimed for their excellent New England cuisine and ambiance, starting with our arrival dinner at the Equinox's beautiful Marsh Tavern on Friday night. And we'll breakfast or brunch at an amazing (not fancy) place in town, Up For Breakfast, that we absolutely adore.

The itinerary is flexible to give everyone free time during the day to shop, spa, golf, hike--it's your choice! Each evening the group will meet for a gourmet dinner and discuss what everyone wants to do the next day; then they will make appointments and organize the group or solo activities.

For example, on Saturday, golf in the morning; have brunch at Up for Breakfast (any time before noon, when they close); and explore the shops and galleries in Manchester in the afternoon. On Sunday visit the spa in the morning; have brunch; then spend the afternoon hiking/walking the trails. It's entirely up to you--they will arrange the weekend however you like!

On Monday, you will have a "farewell" breakfast or brunch before heading home--relaxed, refreshed, well fed, and pampered! This plan will allow for a nice pace to the weekend, where you'll have some "me" time to indulge yourself, as well as group activities.

The price is $1,070 single occupancy and $810 double occupancy. Guests of Single Gourmet members are welcome at no additional charge.

Please note that this is a "cash" price; add an additional $35 if paying by credit card to cover processing fees.

Because of the negotiated favorable rates, reservations must be paid in full by MONDAY MARCH 29 (earlier if possible). After 3/29, the resort will not hold any "non-guaranteed" rooms for us.

THE FINE PRINT

The package includes 3 dinners, 3 breakfasts/brunches, 3 nights accommodations, resort fees and taxes.

Dinners include 1-2 glasses of wine.

The resort fee includes use of the spa, gym, pool, whirlpool, tennis courts, mountain bikes.

Golf, spa treatments, classes, and of course, shopping are extra.

Payment in full must accompany your reservation. Because of the rate we have negotiated for this package, cancellations cannot be refunded.
